Felipe Anderson - 27 minutes of football for Porto

9 games in to the Portuguese season and he can’t even got onto the bench, let alone off it.
The Porto coach, Sergio Conceicao, has put him in the bench 3 times, used him just twice for 18 and 9 minutes.
Significantly he has not included Felipe in the match day squad for over a month. We sent him there to regain form and confidence.
It’s a season long loan, presumably with a view to buying him. Not looking too likely IMHO.
Will we ever see him in a West Ham shirt again?

Yeah youd think there would be get out clauses for such events......surely thats logical..... although at the time Reid was highly sought after so guess we were held to ransom a bit. Paying for it now mind.....
Reid, Carroll, Wilshere, Sanchez, Anderson, Yarmo.......millions and millions spunked on them last few years for little return

Should of recalled him in January. Him coming into a high morale playing squad would of done him wonders and he can score the odd goal. He's not totally rubbish!

You can't compare Reid and Anderson anymore than you can Ashton and Anderson. I get that people forget what he offered before serious injury and that the club are carrying a financial burden but I'm in no doubt the player would be happier playing and earning that in our first team.
When he leaves the club it will be with a touch of sadness that the peak of his career was destroyed by injury.
He was very much one of my favourites in the last years at the Boleyn ground and his goal in that last match cemented a great final match there.
Anderson on the other hand just doesn't turn up. Only he knows why he seems to not be bothered.

When it comes to our signings, it seems we need to employ a psychologist / psychiatrist as much as we need more scouts. From Ravel to Anderson, we seem to have a record of easily getting the 'talent' (we just PAY) but not weeding out the ditherers and unstable.

Absolutely - couldn’t have foreseen the extent of any injury he would get, but it’s always a risk tying any player down to a contract that long when it takes them well into their 30s. It’s not like he was an 18 year old wonder kid when he signed it.
Hope he continues to get playing time at Brentford and gets back to somewhere near his best.

Exactly, what is he offering us?
70k a week and you would be lucky if the likes of Brentford are paying even 10% of his wages.
He will end up having his contract terminated or collecting his wages until his contract is up.

Reid is on loan at Brentford, apparently made 3 appearances.
Last Feb he was loaned out to Sporting Kansas, made 12 appearances and scored once.

We wont get anywhere near £18m for him. He has proven by this point he cant play in either the English or Portuguese top flights. He is a fucking waste of space and at least we found some mug to pay his wages for a year.

Here is a summary of his value in Jan this year.
Transfermarkt.pt has revised all Liga NOS market values. The value of West Ham loanee Felipe Anderson continues to drop significantly. The FC Porto winger drops from €25 million to €18 million and thus to his lowest market value level since the summer of 2015.
“Anderson joined Porto with great expectations and, so far, he is probably the biggest disappointment among all new arrivals in Liga NOS,” Marcel de Almeida (MDA05), area manager TM Portugal, explains. “After four months in the league, he still hasn’t asserted himself – possibly because of his attitude. It often seems like he’s absent-minded when he features. In the league, Anderson played just 63 minutes and at times hasn’t even made the squad.”

Seems laid back like a lot of Brazilians. I've worked with a few and whilst nice people they have been amongst the worst individualistic and work-shy people going.
He wasn't a regular at his former club so they must have been delighted at the fee. It was at a time where stupid money was being spent by clubs for players and we had a decent season out of him to be fair.
Remember a number of pundits raving and saying he would be great option for a top 4 club. He has ability but lacks desire and work ethic.
He'll end up back in Brazil I reckon. Most European clubs demand work rate especially ones who would pay larger wages.

If I thought for one moment he would come back and offer us something I’d be happy to recall him, but something has happened to mess him up entirely and the Porto boss hasn’t exactly praised his attitude or application so it doesn’t even seem that he’d be good to have around the squad

When all clubs are in the same boat then the figures might decrease but the volume of transfer activity won't. Values have always, and still will be, dictated by the demand for a player.
We would be better off leaving Anderson there while they're paying a big chunk of his wages but trying hard to organise a loan elsewhere where he gets more playing time.
If we have to compromise on some of the wage contribution that could be a gamble worth taking if we can recoup a few million more on a transfer in the summer.
